In his rhythmically complex sets, Hassan Abou Alam manages to create dynamic arcs of tension that activate the body and mind at the same time. The Egyptian producer and DJ, who has been shaping Cairo’s club sound for over 15 years, is himself strongly inspired by the UK sound. However, he breaks up its breaks and booming sub-basses with sophisticated percussive polyrhythms and Arabic vocal samples. The vibe is rebellious and serene. Alam will present his own productions in a live set.
