Underground Resistance (UR) is a legendary Detroit-based techno collective and record label, first formed in the late 1980s by Jeff Mills and “Mad” Mike Banks. Born as a reaction to the growing commercialization of techno and the harsh socio-economic realities of Reagan-era Detroit, UR has always stood for sonic resistance and radical independence. Their music fuses Detroit techno, acid house, and electro, layered with politically charged messages, militant aesthetics, and futuristic, dystopian visions.
